Pitch Task 1. Song Choice (Abigayle Cotterell)

The song that we have chosen to do for our Music Video is Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur.

Our video will be different to the original as firstly, in our video, the character will be part of the narrative and will be a story about a loving relationship between the artist and his girlfriend. We will be using a couple of similar locations, however the video will be a lot different contextually.

The original video shows a number of narratives which contain different situations of having to let go of someone; whether it's a loved one, or people growing up, or someone losing a life. The artist also isn't part of the narrative.

The original video is also in black and white, which is another feature that will be different to ours. However, there will also be some similar features such as props (a guitar) and costumes (casual clothing).

Additional task- Analysis of the single artwork

This is the Official artwork for our chosen song ' Say You Won't Let Go'. The artist is stood central of the Cover with a plain background which brings all the audiences' attention to the artist. The use of the simple white font also ensures that our attention remains with the artist. The artist is wearing a plain black t-shirt with an unzipped hoodie with the hood up, revealing his tattoos as it is one of his main features. Despite all this, there isn't synergy between the Single Artwork and the video.

Additional task- Artist Website Analysis

I visited James Arthur's official website to look at synergy and see how his website is used to promote his songs and interact with his fans When I went on the website, the initial page that comes up promotes his Single (Say you won't let go) and the music video for it. I found that the colour scheme of the single cover and the website are very similar as well as the font.

Throughout the website, synergy is used as photos from the same photo shoot are used on different pages. It is the same photo shoot as the single cover shoot. The outfit is the same as well as the exposure of his tattoos which is one of his signature features. Throughout the website, the colour scheme remains the same. Throughout the website, there's links to the official store, to buy his music as well as a page dedicated to his music videos.

Additional - Analysing a Live Performance (Abigayle Cotterell)

James Arthur performed on the First Live show of The X Factor 2016, so we thought it would be a good idea to analyse the elements of his performance to try and find any synergy, as well as to get inspiration for our own music video of the song.

The first thing that we noticed about the artist was that he was playing his guitar. The prop is the main source of synergy as it appears numerous times in the original music video.

The outfit that the artist wore was very casual. He wore a low cut t-shirt which exposed his tattoos, with a denim jacket. He also wore jeans. His scruffy hair style completed the look.

A feature of his performance that really stood out and that we really liked was the lighting effects which created rain in the background. We think that this was a very cool feature and we intend to create a similar effect in our video.
